Conference Background

The industry understands the advantages of being innovative. Some believe that it is the next level of competitive advantage, the Holy Grail of business. The Conference focuses on innovation its context and the ecosystem. The word has been so misrepresented. For some the word is used as a descriptor for the entire process of commercialization. Others claim that it is about new initiatives, often used to represent major initiatives or incremental changes. For some, the word innovation is change that adds value. We will be addressing the gap between the rhetoric and the reality of innovation. How to take innovation from the lab to the marketplace.

Business leaders today face unprecedented challenges and opportunities. The marketplace itself has undergone a massive revolution, which has turned “conventional wisdom” on its head. In a world filled with a new, ultra-low cost competitors, ever more powerful customers and hyper-competitive markets, innovation is the only way to out-perform the industry average. Innovation used to happen by chance, it if it happened at all. Not any longer. Today, the world’s most forward-thinking companies see innovation as an engine for growth and, therefore, something that must be strategically managed and securely harnessed. It is the new currency of competition. It is the key to organic growth and wider profit margins. It is, in short, the Holy Grail of business in the 21st Century and companies must keep innovating if they are to keep growing.
